Design change

Last night, some point between 'should have been asleep' and 'about to go to bed', I decided to have a little change on my blog layout. Always the best time to fiddle with settings! But here we are. What do you think?

I would love to customise this blog, as I'd like the header to be the full width of this writing panel, but it doesn't seem possible in standard settings. Also the colours - still not totally happy. But I like the width, and I like the font. There seems room to play - one day I shall do this blogging malarky properly!

My ginger cat is sitting beside me purring. He is like a lion in the mornings, so sure of his rightful place (on my lap), so sure of his rightful portion (of my porridge) and so happy with his lot in life! Here he is settling down for a snooze.

I like it!

I spent hours and hours trying to get mine exactly how I wanted it and literally would not sleep until I succeeded fine tuning. I daren't go back and tinker now but this has made me want to fiddle again!

Have you got any knowledge of HTML?

I got to grips with it just enough to get where I wanted to go. Not sure I could remember half of it now, alas.

I like it-- easy to read. Mine's been redecorated several times as well.

Hi Jayne

Love the new look, its so easy to read. Wouldn't have the faintest idea how to change the settings myself so hats off to you.

Also just read your previous blog. My husband, who is a very reluctant reader loves the Sharpe series and takes a different book with him each time we go on holiday (the only time he does read). For his birthday a few years ago I bought him the box set on dvd although I'm not sure whether the present was more for him if you know what I mean.

Also added the second book to my ever increasing tbr pile - like you I love a good bit of social history.

The technical bits of blogging are beyond me. I think your blog looks great.

Love the new layout - I'm always fiddling with mine and once managed to lose everything :oO

Gorgeous little pusskin - my Molly-dog would have him for breakfast I'm afraid, so I won't show her the picture!

The new layout is great: easy to read and utilises the space on the screen well - something I really need to fix on my blog!

I've been considering using this wide template, too. Will have to find one that is much more custom than the standard offerings in Blogger. Then, of course, like you, I'll be tweaking it until I'm (sorta) happy with it. :)

I like the design! And I adore the cat; it looks just like the one in my header!

Love it. Very clean and simple. I've tried so many different templates in the past few days, striving to get the right look. Seems like you've done it!

belatedly saying how much I like the new look here- and also how much I love your cat! I always wanted a red cat- they are so perfect.

Hi Kit! Glad to hear you like it. I do have some knowledge of HTML but mainly things like this, rather than fiddly wow things. But I have just seen on blogger help how to make stand alone pages, so am rather excited (in a 'stand alone pages in blogger' sort of way).

Hi KarenG! Thanks for saying you like it. I think redecorating is half the fun with blogs. :)

Hi Linda! Thank you! I'm glad you like it. I think with the settings, as long as you only change small things at first, like 'fonts and colours' and 'layout', then you cannot go too far wrong. The 'blogger help' bit is useful as people do seem to answer questions if you get stuck.

I must admit to also owning the box set of Sharpe on DVD. It is to increase my knowledge of historical times (cough cough). ;)

Hi Amy! Thanks, glad you like it. Most of the technical stuff is beyond me as well, but I do like the idea of creating my own web site and somehow incorporating the blog... have no idea yet how that happens though! Magic?

Hi Karen! Nice to hear you like it. The last time I played with my blog I lose all my stats, which had me panic eating chocolate until they somehow restored themselves.

He is a gorgeous little pusskin... although he rather likes his food and would be a gorgeous fat pusskin given half the chance. And how funny - a friend of mine calls her cat 'Molly-cat'! I wonder what sort of animal is the 'coddle'. :)

Hi Donna! Thank you, glad you like. It was the space thing that was getting to me too, so I'm happy with this for now. Too scared to touch it too much in case it all collapses in a HTML heap.

Hi apt3 design! Thank you for commenting. I think it is all about the tweaking. ;)

Hi Alexandra! I'm pleased you like it. And he is a very adorable cat! I shall tell him you said so. :)
