Forget your troubles come on get happy

Today I am channelling Judy Garland. I am missing the following items though:

Some sort of gingham checked material
A small dog called Toto
Magical ruby slippers

Instead I have:

Black office attire (including annoying hip-circling-with-every-step black skirt)
A small handbag (unnamed)
Scuffed black boots that have no magic about them whatsoever

I can now see where I have been going wrong. Wallace & Gromit had the wrong trousers, and it appears I have saddled myself with the wrong wardrobe.

Oh boy. A wandering lassitude has taken residence in my soul and it’s not shifting for toffee. Hence being quiet... it’s only my own pressure I know, but I like to be cheerful here on the blog, if I can, and when I feel like this it just doesn’t happen. Chocolate will only rectify a few ills, then the concentration (and obsession) moves to the lack of waist. But I so hate feeling negative – surely that energy can be put to better use. The problem with negative is that it is so solid an emotion and positive can feel so flimsy.

Today I decided at lunch that the cure may be found in hair dye. This will be the wash in/wash out variety as I quite like my natural hair colour (until of course the day comes where silver out-threads the red, and then I will go positively bonkers. Blue? Bring it on!) It’s not really so much the hair dye, but this sort of thing shows a commitment to caring about yourself, in a funny way. Today my soul feels a bit unkempt. Tomorrow it may feel a bit pampered, and who knows what that will do to my creativity? It shall Unleash The Tiger. Or something.

What do you mean, unleash the tiger?!

Best get spruced up. Thanks sis.

While we are waiting for tigers, we are going to have a snooze. You didn't want this arm back again any time soon, did you? Good.

Awe! Good luck on the dying. Definitely need some pampering now and again to feel like a special happy peppy person again.

Ginger kitty! Ginger kitty!

Ahem.

I agree - hair dye is the answer! Good luck. And maybe some wine?

I hope the hair dye works to lift the lassitude. Some days are just very meh.

At least you have tigers to comfort you (or if they're like mine, to annoy you to bits!) Rufus bites when he gets bored which isn't an endearing quality.

I seem to have the same problem. Tried dye but it was short-lived. Methinks I need a vacation.

Sadly my ruby slippers lost their heels and my dog won't fit in my straw basket. Worse yet, I think the flying monkeys are after me.

If all else fails, try alcohol. :)

Good luck with the hair dye! You could always go a little wild and add some pink or something. :o)

I wash in and wash out ever 6 weeks!! Greys begone!!! LOL!!! But I'm not brave enough to try the blue rinse yet!!!

May your tigers be unleashed after you pamper yourself!!! Look you already have two cute sweeties to help you!!! Awwww!! They're adorable!! Take care

Very best of luck with the hair dye and with keeping positive. It's nice to have a change from time to time. I have a pair of ruby slippers that I wore on my wedding day. They always cheer me up. That and wearing my tiara when I do the housework. I think Judy would have approved!

was admiring these cute kitty fotos and then looked at your last post -- what amazing coloring abigail has! she looks like she's wearing a witch's hat!

good luck with the hair color - it cures (if not all) many ills..... -)

Hope it feels pampered tomorrow - hugs...

Love the kitties!
I don't know what to tell you about the hair color. My wife dyes hers, and I'm happy she does...
Some ladies look great in gray!
Hey, I might have just invented a new slogan...

I so remember that annoying skirt problem and feeling very unsophisticated at having to swizzle it round.

Maybe you need a little holiday? Hope the hair dye does the trick in the meantime. If not, then how about doing something totally different, wearing something wacky, watching a TV programme you would normally ignore, buy a hula hoop, learn a song and sing, sing, sing...

Take care

I love this post! Whenever chocolate doesn't cure what's ailing me, I dye my hair. For reals! It's like getting a mini face-lift, for the soul. Enjoy!!

You'd think all those department stores with their seasonal Gifts For Him and Gifts For Her sections would have latched onto crowdpleasing Judy Garland gift packs containing exactly those three items. But no, they have only lousy mugs and talcum powder. They need you as a dyed retail advisor.

Ah, nothing like a brilliant change of one's hair color to perk you up! Of course, dark chocolate and red wine can work wonders, too!

I've discovered that a lot of bloggers like pets--dogs and cats especially. And they like photos of them on posts. I like these very much.

And I add my good wishes for the dyeing!

Alas, hair dye is only temporary. But tiger cats? They last forever and definitely lift the spirits.

Hi,

A bit of pampering always does the trick for me, along with chocolate of course and a favourite dvd. Perhaps its the long winter nights that sets our spirits tumbling, stick the fire on and snuggle up to a good book I say!

you have red hair! I would love to be a red

sorry you're feeling blue- I was too and I went to yoga and it really worked

or maybe it was the enormous cauliflower cheese I ate afterwards that worked!

Your kitties are too cute! I have a friend who has sixteen cats! Yes. She's quite cheerful. Maybe you need more kitties.

On another note, hope tomorrow brings sunshine and a great lift of the spirits, dye or no dye.

I loved Judy Garland! She had a one-of-a-kind voice.

Hair dye rules. Hope you get the color you want.

Hi,

Lovely pics! And so you've had a fashion faux pas day - we've all been in that situation at some time. ;)

Ah, the dyeing bit - hmm, I've been thinking about an outrageous green streak! I'm blonde BTW, my profile pic out of date.

BTW: I'm holding a Twisted Christmas Fairy Tail blogfest - wy not give it a go?

All the best, Boonie

How true that negativity is such a solid emotion and positivity is a flimsy one. LOVE that analogy, and I can so relate.

I need to dye my hair again, too. The gray is showing again! GAH.

I feel pepped up after dyeing my hair. I hope it works for you.

Hi Jayne, I can readily identify with your 'wandering lassitude has taken residence in my soul'. I wrote about it myself in 'Not Amused' post. I find going for walks really helps and that cholocate actually makes it worse, ultimately. Of course the grim grey weather doesn't help. I love the pics of your kitties. I have two myself. Hope you find your muse again soon. :O)

You don't like cats, do you? ;)

I love it when my soul feels pampered. I feel at one with myself.
Thank you for following my blog! It's always so nice to see new faces there!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Unleash the tiger! Via dye :-) I got rid of my "ugh" feelings by going RADICAL and having a different colour every 6 weeks. Currently settled on purple...

I must admit that chocolate and hair dye go quite a way to cheering me up too, although I wish lettuce had the same cheering ingredients that Maltesers did.

Good luck and enjoy.

Colene – A special happy peppy person is a great description of what I am aiming for!

Talli – I post ginger kitty pics especially for you! He can be your kitty by proxy. :)

fairyhedgehog – Oh boy, aren’t they just. I think I have had a ‘meh’ month!

Maria – I am actually poised to go on holiday and I think some much needed time away will work wonders. Watch those flying monkeys!

Kristal – Pink!! *ponders* I think I might be more of a ‘blue’ girl. Or perhaps ‘orange’. I have a brilliant orange punk wig I like to wear on occasion!

Old Kitty – The wash in/wash out really did help. I felt a lot better by being a little brighter! And my two tiger cats are always on hand for cuddles, bless them, so gorgeous and affectionate! I am very blessed.

Robyn – Chocolate most definitely. And red velvet cupcakes.

Happy Frog – Judy would most definitely approve of wearing a tiara to do the housework! I certainly approve of that combination. Do you have those fluffy marigolds as well? :)

Amanda – Aw thank you, yes, Abigail is such a pretty cat. And she knows it!

Carole – I did feel a little pampered – thank you!

Pat – I think you ‘have’ invented a new slogan! I’d wear the t-shirt.

Christine – Swizzling skirts is never a good look, I find. I do need a little holiday, you’re right, and I am poised to take one! So hopefully that will lift the mood. Good ideas about trying other things as well – thanks!

Nicole – It did help, actually – definitely made me feel a lot brighter – both in soul and hair!

mise – I think you are onto a winner with Judy Garland gift pack idea. The gingham material is unspecified but it could be blouse, tea-towel or napkin. Although if you were banking on a blouse and then receive a napkin you might be a little sad. The small dog though… that rules out mail-order.

floweringmama – I must ‘fess up to trying the red wine route. And the white wine route.

Ann – Glad you like the pics of my cats! And thank you.

Maggie May – Cheers!

N. R. Williams – Thank you.

Helen Ginger – You are so right about tiger cats.

Amanda Borenstadt – they say thank you!

Pamela – I hadn’t thought of a pedicure! But that is a good idea too – thanks!

catdownunder – Abigail and Ginger purr right back atcha.

Linda – It definitely is connected to the winter nights. My spirits seem to sink as fast as the sun. But I feel so much better for having brightened up with a little hair dye. Also been snuggling with some comfort reading!

Rose – Red hair is within grasp if you are in Boots. :) But yes, my natural hair colour is sort of copper. Good point about the exercise – I have just found there is a yoga class near me so I might join it.

Elizabeth Varadan – Sixteen cats! Gosh. I’d need a bigger house! And thank you for the sunshine wishes.

Jayne said...

Kathi – Judy Garland had a beautiful voice, I agree.

Francine – Green! Now that sounds wild – I am very impressed! And thanks for telling me about your Twisted Christmas Fairy Tail blog-fest, sounds good!

Boonie – It ‘is’ a nice cat-alogue, isn’t it? :)

Melissa Marsh – I wish it was the other way around. One day…

Medeia – It did pep me up, thanks!

Madeleine – I’ll check out your ‘Not Amused’ post. Walks – yes, I love walking. As long as I am warm and have a brolly, then I don’t mind rain or shine (which is a Five Star song – gosh, haven’t thought of that one for years!) Chocolate is like a little boost as long as the balance between it and exercise stays good, as otherwise I cannot fit my jeans and then I really feel awful!

Carolyn V. – Thank you!

Nezzy – Aw thank you!

Elizabeth Mueller – So you have worked out my secret? ;)

imagespast – Purple?! That sounds fab! And a different colour every six weeks – wow. I wonder what has been your favourite so far? I bet purple looks fantastic!

Debs – If only lettuce released endorphins! But then it would have to be coated in chocolate and dipped in sugar. *pauses to think about that for a second* Lettuce growers, don’t try that at home!

Wendy aka Quillfeather – Thank you!

Mary Mary – How lovely of you, thank you so much. Have already popped over to your blog!

Olivia J. Herrell – Wow – thanks! Have already scurried over to your blog – that definitely did give me a boost. No blue hair yet! I plumped for a pumped up red. :)
